Last week I talked a little bit about Peace and wanted to dive deeper because hey, we could all benefit from it and hell the world could use more people living in Peace.  

The best place to start is by differentiating your thoughts and feelings from who you are. You are not anger, anxiety, sadness, happiness. You feel angry, anxious, sad, happy and if you pay attention you will notice these feelings change their impermanent (that’s my favorite word by the way) If you spend time with a 2-year-old you can experience the emotional rollercoaster from bliss to sadness in less than 60 seconds. They just feel what they feel but don’t get attached to feeling it. As we grow we feel happiness and want to keep it, we feel stress and want to push it away. 

We struggle because we want things to be different than they are as I wrote on- The End of Suffering. But in order to grow past this, we need to allow the emotions and feelings to run their course without attaching any story or wanting them to go away. We need to see our sadness with compassion and our anger with patience. Then and only then can the emotions soften and we can find peace. 

We don't let go of feelings. Feelings let go of us.
